This website is made primarily to support my classroom. I am an English teacher at Grants Pass High School, and have been given the wonderful opportunity to teach a video game based english class. My High School decided to call it Video Games as Literature to mirror our Film as Literature class naming scheme. I am an advocate for video games in the classroom, and want to do anything I can to help support other teachers trying to start their own classes based on video games.
My school has 22 Xboxs, 5 Nintendo Switches, and 2 PS5s for this class. My class sizes jump from 25-32 depending on the semester. We primarily use Game Pass for subscriptions to games, and would love support to be able to continue to bring this amazing class to my students. All lessons I create for the class will be posted eventually, after they have been stress tested and proven good enough for public viewing.
Your support means the world to me, thank you!
John Kellogg a licensed High School English teacher in the state of Oregon. I teach English at the Freshmen, and senior levels. My Video Games as Literature class is how I play, and plan most of my English based lessons.
As you can imagine, supporting a class that uses subscriptions like Xbox Game Pass can be expensive. If you would like to support my class, please become a "Classroom Gamer" on patreon to support future years of Video Game as Literature Students.
I am always looking for friends and partners to help grow my class. If you are looking for help in getting a class started at your school, or if you are a game developer yourself, I would love to hear from you!
